The Cognitive Distortion Scales (CDS) assesses negative thinking patterns that interfere with optimal functioning in adults from 18-91 years of age. It is a 40-item self-assessment of cognitive distortions, with the CDS scales reflecting five types of cognitive distortion.
The CDS Test Booklet is carbonless, and is administered in approximately 10-15 minutes (to individuals or groups). Respondents use a 5-point scale to rate frequency of occurrence of each item during the previous month.
The Test Booklet is then handscored by the examiner using the Profile Form.
