The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) is used to detect psychiatric disorder in the general population and within community or non-psychiatric clinical settings such as primary care or general medical out-patients.
It assesses the respondent's current state and asks if that differs from his or her usual state, and is therefore sensitive to short-term psychiatric disorders (but not long-standing attributes of the respondent).
The GHQ is available in several versions to suit different applications. The different versions enable researchers and clinicians to select the version most appropriate to their individual requirements.
The GHQ 12-item Questionnaire is a quick, reliable and sensitive short form - ideal for research studies.
All GHQ Questionnaires are self-administered.
