The Inventory of Altered Self-Capacities (IASC) assesses difficulties in relatedness, identity, and affect control in ages 18 years and older.
It is a 63-item self-report measure of an individual's psychological functioning capacity in the areas of forming and maintaining meaningful relationships, creating a stable sense of personal identity and self-awareness, and the ability to modulate and tolerate negative affect. This instrument is particularly useful with adults who have experienced significant childhood abuse or trauma.
The IASC is helpful for clinicians who provide cognitive-behavioural, dialectical behaviour, and interpersonal therapy to individuals who have problems with self-regulation.
The IASC Answer Sheet includes space for recording the responses to the IASC items. The Answer Sheet is handscorable.
