The Self-Appraisal Questionnaire (SAQ) is designed to predict violent and nonviolent offender recidivism among adult correctional and forensic populations. The questionnaire assists with the assignment of these populations to appropriate treatment or correctional programs and also helps to assign institutional security levels.
The SAQ can be used as a pre- and post-treatment measure to help gauge progress and make decisions. With its short administration time, the SAQ is ideal for inmates with short sentences who would not normally warrant a lengthy assessment.
The SAQ QuickScore Form form is completed by the respondent and includes the necessary elements for administering and scoring the instrument. The respondent writes on the external layers of the form, and the results then transfer through to the hidden scoring grid within. The examiner uses these internal layers to calculate the results.
