Getting insights into students’ cognitive abilities opens a whole new realm of possibilities—teachers can tailor instruction to match how students learn, students are considered for enrichment programs that pique their interest and challenge their thinking, and gaps between student achievement and ability are uncovered.

The Cognitive Abilities Test™ (CogAT®), the most widely used and trusted abilities test, makes it all happen. CogAT measures abilities across the symbol systems that are most highly correlated with fluid reasoning, problem solving, and success in school. With its separate measures of Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal reasoning, this research-based and proven test provides multiple perspectives on student ability across grades K–12.

The Cognitive Abilities test (CogAT) measures students’ verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal figural reasoning abilities and assists educators in determining instructional strategies from Prep – Year 12.

The CogAT provides:

  • High reliability and validity, ensuring educators can trust the results, even for high-stakes decision-making
  • An ELL-friendly test construction, providing equity and fairness
  • Unique Ability Profiles that not only show how a student’s reasoning abilities compare with those of other students overall but also highlight areas of relative strength or weakness to help drive teaching and learning strategies
  • The addition of more challenging items at each level, helping reduce the need for out-of-level testing.

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Screening Form provides schools with the ability to offer a quick and reliable data point when screening for accelerated programs.

Built according to the same high standards of quality as the full form CogAT, the Screening Form consists of the analogies portion of each Battery from the full form (Verbal/Picture Analogies, Number Analogies and Figure Matrices).

Once students complete the the Online CogAT Screening Form, there is an option to administer the remaining six remaining subtests to complete the full CogAT battery (6 subtests for online screener-to-complete CogAT). To do this, you can purchase the Online CogAT Post-Screening Form Administration.

Please note: To purchase the Online CogAT Post-Screening Form Administration, you must have previously purchased and administered the Online CogAT Screening Form. The post-screening form must be administered within 30 days of the screening form.

Please note: Price is per administration. Online CogAT Administration, Online CogAT Screening Form Administration and Online CogAT Post-Screening Form Administration are all sold separately.

Proctorio was one of the first solutions to keep the online test-taking experience between the exam administrator and test taker, prioritising both test-taker privacy and exam-administrator convenience.

Proctorio’s online proctoring, identity verification, plagiarism detection tools, and content protection tools make up the digital tool box within your assessment platform to ensure your online assessment’s integrity. Proctorio encrypts collected exam recordings and doesn't require additional personally-identifiable information beyond what is required by the assessment platform. It aims to mimic the in-person exam environment as closely as possible.

With Automated Proctoring, there is no live proctor watching test takers during the exam. After the exam is submitted, institution-approved representatives can review exam recordings and flagged behaviors.

Proctorio provides:

  1. A full exam integrity report with full recordings, color-coded suspicion ratings, exam analytics, annotations, and computer performance directly from within your assessment platform.
  2. The Proctorio Gradebook that lists individual exam results by Suspicion Score on a red, yellow, and green scale based on settings dictated by the exam administrator to highlight which exam attempts require review.
  3. Customisable options - Noted exam behaviors are dictated by the predetermined behavior settings and severity thresholds chosen by the exam administrator. Each noted behavior gets an automated, written Incident Log. Here, the automated notes are dictated by the predetermined exam settings enabled by the exam administrator. The exam administrator can add their own comments and notes to the Incident Log.
  4. The Proctorio Gradebook that provides internet speed and connectivity data throughout the exam attempt period so the exam administrator can see if this impacted the test taker’s ability to successfully submit the exam.
  5. Export options - The log can be accessed from within the assessment platform and can be exported by institution-approved representatives as a PDF document.
