Purpose: Assist in the identification of children who qualify for the special education category of emotional disturbance based on federal criteria
Age: 5-18 years
Time: Approximately 15-20 minutes
Administration: Individual or group
Based on the Emotional Disturbance Decision Tree (EDDT), which is a teacher questionnaire, the Emotional Disturbance Decision Tree–Parent Form (EDDT-PF) adds a parental perspective in the evaluation of children for emotional disturbance (ED).
The EDDT-PF offers school/clinical professionals a standardised approach to gathering parent information about children's functioning in the areas that make up the federal ED criteria.
The federal criteria referred to is from the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations and the reauthorisation of IDEA (2004), and mandates that certain conditions be present in order to receive services but don’t provide assessment guidelines.
ED characteristic-based scales
Used in concert with the original instrument, the EDDT-PF can help create a more comprehensive picture of a child or adolescent's behaviour through the parent's eyes.
The EDDT-PF can be administered and scored online via PARiConnect.
