Course structure

The following learning outcomes will be addressed by the end of ALP1. You will:

  • Evaluate traditional and emerging perspectives on assessment through synthesis of theory and practice
  • Critically reflect on the drivers for emerging perspectives on assessment and the implications for educators, educational practices and school systems
  • Unpack your own assumptions and beliefs about assessment and identify the influence that these can have on your practice
  • Critically examine assessment within your professional context to develop an assessment plan.

ALP 1 is structured to help you integrate your learning into practice. It will move through four phases:

  • Phase 1: Engage.  During this phase, you will engage with the course content. There will be an introductory webinar.
  • Phase 2: Collaborate and plan.  During this phase you will work with colleagues at your school or within your professional context.  You will share what you have learned in the course with your colleagues and then collaborate to design an assessment audit that will inform your planning.
  • Phase 3: Implement.  During this phase you and your colleagues will conduct an assessment audit, critique your findings and develop an assessment plan to guide assessment in the future.
  • Phase 4: Reflect.  You will critically reflect on your experience implementing the assessment audit and creating the plan within your professional context. This will form the first entry for an Assessment Portfolio and will be submitted as a Learning Assurance Task and assessed as evidence of learning.

Your facilitator will be with you throughout all the phases to support you.

Certification

When you have satisfactorily completed the ALP1 Learning Assurance task, you will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement.
