The Medical Selection Admissions Test – Malaysia (MSAT - Malaysia) is a 2.5-hour online multiple-choice assessment independently developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to assist with the selection of students into medicine and health professions degree programmes.

The purpose of MSAT is not to test your knowledge of specific academic subjects, it is to test your skills in the interpretation and understanding of ideas presented in a variety of ways. MSAT questions typically require you to read and think about a passage of writing, to interpret graphical displays of information, to use mathematical relationships, to reason about data and utilise your ability to understand the thoughts, behaviour and/or intentions of people.

The test has a strong focus on general skills and personal abilities that have been identified as important for a competent health professional.

Working through the Sample Questions 1 & 2 will familiarise you with the level of difficulty and the type of material found in the live test.

In addition to gaining familiarity with actual MSAT–Malaysia Questions, working through the Sample questions will help you to build your general test-taking skills.

It will help you to:

  • build a positive attitude
  • be prepared and confident
  • use your time wisely
  • develop your test-taking strategies
  • apply strategies for answering multiple-choice questions
  • check your answers

MSAT-Malaysia Sample Questions booklet 2 contains 45 completely new practice questions, covering all 3 sections of the test:

  1. Critical Reasoning (CR) – involves comprehending and analysing information; understanding, applying, and extending ideas; drawing appropriate conclusions, and evaluating arguments. These questions use material from the humanities and social sciences.
  2. Quantitative Reasoning (QR) – involves analysis and application of information, drawing conclusions, making decisions, and solving problems. These questions use material from the mathematics and sciences.
  3. Interpersonal Understanding (IU) - involves the ability to understand and think about people. These questions are based on a scenario, dialogue or other text representing specific interpersonal situations. Using a multiple-choice format, they assess your ability to identify, understand, and, where necessary, infer the thoughts, feelings, behaviour and/or intentions of the people represented in the interpersonal situations.

Please note: This booklet was published in 2023. It contains different sample questions to the booklet provided with your registration. The sample question booklets are a PDF Download (not a hardcopy).
