The Woodcock-Johnson III Diagnostic Reading Battery (WJ III DRB) is an individually administered diagnostic test that assesses reading achievement and important related reading abilities.

Important comparisons can be made between clusters and tests that help to determine the reasons for reading difficulties.

Key Features

  • Norm-referenced and individually administered
  • Assesses growth over a wide age and grade span
  • Provides continuous age or grade norms
  • Guides development of long- and short-term goals for educational programming
  • Evaluates specific reading and reading-related strengths and weaknesses within the same battery
  • Measures phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension
  • Ideal for identifying specific skill deficits that will be the focus of intervention curriculum in problem-solving models like Response to Intervention (RTI)

The WJ III DRB Scoring and Reporting Program is included with each kit and provides several types of interpretative reports:

  1. Summary Report — Communicates test results to teachers and other professionals.
  2. Parent Report — Includes a profile of the subject's proficiency and a brief explanation that is useful for reporting the results of testing to parents.
  3. Classroom Report — Profiles can also be printed that provide a graphic representation of the individual's reading performance. Profiles include instructional ranges for each cluster and test.
