Diagnostic Mathematical Tasks (DMT)

Purpose: Assess progress in learning mathematics and identify gaps in knowledge that need to be addressed.

Range: First seven years of school and special needs students.

Administration: Time varies with each level; group or individual.

The Diagnostic Mathematical Tasks are intended to help teachers to survey children's mathematical performance, identify some of their learning difficulties and to plan programs which will meet individual, small group and whole class needs.

Containing oral, pictorial and written items corresponding to mathematics curriculum, tasks are presented in a graded sequent from first to last year of primary school.
