The Sensory Processing Measure – Second Edition (SPM-2) is a norm-referenced measure of function in the visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, gustatory, proprioceptive (body awareness), and vestibular (balance and motion) sensory systems, as well as praxis and social participation.

Firmly grounded in Ayres Sensory Integration theory, the new SPM-2 updates an instrument widley acclaimed as the best of its kind. The SPM-2 is a revision and expansion of the Sensory Processing Measure (2007) and Sensory Processing Measure–Preschool (2010).

What’s new in the SPM-2?

  • Expanded age range includes infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age children, adolescents, and adults
  • Assess and compare across daily environments with new forms, including driving forms
  • Updated norms based on new, nationally representative standardisation samples (USA)
  • Updated SPM-2 Quick Tips, now organised by additional sensory, cognitive, and behavioral objectives to develop intervention strategies for home, school, work, and in the community
  • Compare sensory needs of individuals to those of the caregiver, parent, teacher, or other adult
  • Updated item content reflects changes in technology for children’s play and activities
  • Online administration, scoring, and reporting available through the WPS® Online Evaluation System™
