Purpose: Evaluate acute and chronic posttraumatic symptomatology in young children
Age: 3-12 years
Time: 15-20 minutes
Administration: Individual and group
The Trauma Symptom Checklist for Young Children (TSCYC) is the first fully standardised and normed broadband trauma measure for young children who have been exposed to traumatic events such as child abuse, peer assault, and community violence.
Based on the Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (TSCC), the TSCYC is a 90-item caretaker-report measure. Caretakers rate each of 90 symptoms on a four-point scale according to how frequently the symptom occurred in the previous month.
Eight clinical scales and a summary scale provide valuable information to help you evaluate acute and chronic symptomatology and provide information on other symptoms found in many traumatized children
The TSCYC has separate norms for males and females in three age groups: 3-4 years, 5-9 years, and 10-12 years.
It contains specific scales to ascertain the validity of caretaker reports (Response Level and Atypical Response), as well as providing norm-referenced data on the number of waking hours the caretaker spends with the child in the average week (0- 1 hours to Over 60 hours).
Scales
The TSCYC can be scored via software, or can be administered and scored online via PARiConnect. All PARiConnect purchases made directly through ACER include dedicated local support. Contact our Customer Service Team to set up your account today.
