Purpose: Assess depressive symptoms in youth
Age: 7 -17 years
Time: 5–15 minutes
The Children’s Depression Inventory - Second Edition (CDI-2) is a comprehensive multi-rater assessment of depressive symptoms in youth aged 7 to 17 years. Depressive symptomatology is quantified by the CDI 2 based on reports from children/adolescents, teachers and parents. Together, the inventories are a family of tools that accurately assess the presence and the severity of depressive symptoms.
The second edition includes new items that focus on the core aspects of childhood depression, revised scales that are more reliable and valid, as well as new norms (US population). Also updated and enhanced are the normative samples of the Parent and Teacher forms.

CDI-2 Formats
Paper-and-Pencil Administration and Scoring
All CDI-2 forms can be administered and scored using the MHS QuikScore Forms. The rater writes on the external layers of the form, and the results transfer through to a hidden scoring grid within the internal layers. The assessor then uses the internal layers for tabulating results. Each QuikScore form includes conversion tables, which are used to convert raw scores to T-scores.
Online Administration and Scoring (MHS Online Assessment Centre)
The CDI-2 can be completed and automatically scored online. Online administration allows the assessor the flexibility to send a link to each respondent to complete the assessment at a location (e.g., child care center, school). Assessors using online scoring also have the option of printing E-Paper forms that can be scored online by entering the responses.
