Purpose: Assess impairment of executive function in children and adolescents
Age: 5 to 18 years
Administration: Individual (Informant or Self-Report)
Time: 10 minutes
The Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function - Second Edition (BRIEF2) assesses impairment of executive function in children and adolescents ages 5 - 18 years, in both home and school environments.
The BRIEF2 gives you the information you need to help children and adolescents with executive dysfunction. It digs deeper than similar measures and pinpoints exactly where and why children struggle, so therapists and schools can make informed and impactful intervention and accommodation recommendations.
It is designed for a broad range of children for whom there may be concerns about self-regulation, such as those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); learning disabilities (LD); attention disorders; traumatic brain injuries (TBI); depression; and other developmental, neurological, psychiatric, and medical conditions.
New features of the BRIEF2
New! BRIEF2 Interventions Handouts
Developed by the BRIEF2 authors and available only online via PARiConnect, the new BRIEF2 Interventions Handouts are graphic PDF files designed to be shared with parents, teachers, and students. Written in easy-to-understand language, they explain what the executive functions are and include detailed strategies to support and improve behaviours at home and in school.
Handouts are specific to BRIEF2 scales and are generated based on elevated (T ≥ 60) scores. Although several handouts may be available per report, only one use is deducted.
Handouts are only available after a BRIEF2 Score or Interpretive Report is completed/generated.
